Children and Worship
In partnership with Princeton Theological Seminary, on January 31 and February 1 KUMC hosted Christian educators and seminary students from all over the country for a Children and Worship training event.
Children and Worship is an approach to sharing faith with children that allows children to encounter God, while preparing them to participate in the worshipping life of the church. It uses a multi-sensory approach to storytelling and encourages children to respond to God’s word in creative ways.
At the training event, Olivia Stewart Robertson and Kaye Edwards graciously and skillfully showed us how to lead worship according to their method, in a way that opens space for wonder and worship as well as creativity and curiosity.
At KUMC we are adopting Children and Worship as our Children’s ministry curriculum. But unlike many other curricula, Children and Worship is not strictly educational, it is not merely about worship, it is worship. The Children of our church learn about worship through worshipping God.
We are very excited about this new ministry we’ll be offering to the children of our church. If you’d like to know more about Children and Worship, check out their website at www.childrenandworship.org. If you’d like to get involved in the Children’s Ministry at KUMC contact us at [email protected]
KUMC Pledge Drive
AS YOU CONSIDER YOUR PLEDGE FOR 2014….
Giving is an act of personal worship to God–a way we thank God for the grace God has given us in our lives, and especially for the gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. The decision about how much you give to KUMC should be a by-product of prayer and conversations with other Christians who help you on your spiritual journey. John Wesley famously recommended that his hearers “earn as much as you can, so you can save as much as you can, so you can give as much as you can.” At KUMC, members pledge to support our congregation with their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
We recognize that God can use your tithe and offering to further Christ’s work outside of KUMC as well. However, if you consider KUMC your “home church,” please consider giving a significant portion of your tithe and offering to the community where you invest most of your time, and where others are investing in you.
Pledge cards are available in the pews to place in the offering plate, or fill out an online pledge card at http://kingstonmethodist.org/2013-pledge-card/
