Thursday’s Reflection
PAY ATTENTION to each thing that you do today, be it cooking, washing dishes, going to the bank, working at a computer, reading, watching the news, exercising, playing with your pet. Be present to what it is that you are doing.
Can you enjoy the dishes you are washing rather than wishing the task were over so you could get on to something else? If you are outdoors, what is the weather like? What season of the year is it? What do you smell? What sounds do you hear? If you are driving a car, do you enjoy driving? What do you like about it? How do you feel doing it? Do the other people and cars around you seem to be in a big hurry?
Prayer
O Lord our God, maker of the land and sea and all that is, we praise you for the beauty of your creative work. Help us to relax and enjoy that which you have made. Help us to give ourselves over to your loving care—to relax and let you lead us into the fullness of the present moment. Amen.
